RiverCenter Adler Theatre Renews Contract

DAVENPORT, IA - The Davenport City Council voted to extend and expand its contract with VenuWorks to manage the RiverCenter Adler Theatre in Davenport, IA., VenuWorks President Steve Peters has announced. The contract extension is for a five-year term and will continue through August 2015.

The expansion of the contract calls for VenuWorks to internally manage the food and beverage operations for the RiverCenter and Adler Theatre.  The food and beverage contract between VenuWorks and the Radisson expires in August.

Alan Guard, the City’s finance director, informed the City Council that the facilities generate between $15 million and $19 million in direct economic impact downtown annually.  Combined with overall satisfaction with the current team and longtime local manager Rick Palmer, the City staff and RCAT Advisory Board recommended extending the agreement through 2015.

“That is a 17-to-1 return on investment,” Guard told the Quad-City Times. “It makes sense to keep this team together.”

The contract extension was also supported by Joe Taylor, the president and CEO of the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, and by Amy and Amrit Gill of Restoration St. Louis, who are in the midst of a multi-million renovation of the Hotel Blackhawk, which is connected to the RiverCenter.

The Hotel Blackhawk’s Gold Room will be added to the RiverCenter’s selection of meeting spaces and Amy Gill said she is comfortable with Palmer and appreciates VenuWork’s extensive experience.

“Right now, the management of the RiverCenter and Adler is top notch,” Bobbi Rogalski, chair of the RiverCenter Adler Theatre Advisory Committee told the Quad-City Times. “Rick (Palmer) is out there building relationships, and you can’t ask for more right now.”

“We are happy to continue our partnership with the City of Davenport and its excellent facilities,” Peters said.  “We look forward to continuing and expanding our service to Davenport and Eastern Iowa.”

COMEDY CENTRAL LIVE
GABRIEL IGLESIAS
THE FLUFFY SHOP TOUR

Coming to the Adler Theatre
Saturday, November 13!

DAVENPORT, IA – Gabriel Iglesias has been described as unbelievably funny, electrifying, and a gifted performer who has the ability to consistently deliver a quality comedy experience in every venue he performs in. His high-octane show is a hilarious mixture of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects that bring all his personal issues to life. Gabe’s clean, animated comedy style has earned national crossover appeal. Ask anyone who has seen him in concert and you will probably hear the same thing, "He was so funny!"

Known as the "fluffy" comic in a Hawaiian shirt, the 32-year old funny man often riffs about his girthy middle - whether it's talking about how little dancing it takes for him to work up a sweat at the nightclub, or how hearing his girlfriend coo the words "chocolate cake" over the telephone works for him like phone sex, he evokes laughter.

Gabriel’s mass appeal opened the door to a rare opportunity to film a second one hour special and DVD. The new special entitled “I’m Not… Fat I’m Fluffy” Live in El Paso premiered on Comedy Central November 8, 2009. The new show is packed with a perfect blend of impeccable voice skills and an uncanny knack for hilarious storytelling that Gabe is known for. His vast imitative skills re-create numerous sound effects from speeding cars to microwave ovens to a plethora of dead-on voices. The new special is destine to top his previous comedy CD “Picachu" and his hugely successful Special/DVD “Hot & Fluffy.”   fluffyguy.com

Gabriel’s credits include; “Last Comic Standing”, ABC's "My Wife & Kids," Showtime's "Resurrection Boulevard,”  "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Good Morning America," “Mind of Mencia,” “The Late Late Show,” FOX TV’s “The Family Guy,” "Showtime at the Apollo" and BET's "Comic View."
